I’ve come to realize a few things tonight. Well, two things.
First thing, yes I’m Filipino. No, I don’t sing, play guitar, dance, like Manny Pacqiuo, love lumpia or mangos, own a snap back or multiple jordans, like to party a lot, have a mowark/fauxhawk, know Tagalog, or wear huf/undefeated/hundreds everyday. Its so weird how Filipinos these days are classified as one or more of these things. Maybe that’s why I don’t get the Filipino youth/young adults of this generation.
Second thing, I’ve accepted that I probably will never be accepted/fit in with those groups. And I’m not talking about just one. I’m talking about the group I run into when I go back home, when I go to school, when I go to most social events, or when I go shopping. Maybe that’s why I love spending time with my friends that play Street Fighter, they wholly accept me for who I am. And they WANT me to hang out with them, and actually INVITE me to hang out, and more importantly make me feel WELCOMED when I’m there, regardless of any other circumstances.
This is one of the Most real statements ever. People tend to undervalue the community of fighting game players and the bonds connections and friendships we all share.
